<description>I think for me, like Dee, it comes from when I was a kid. I would sit down and watch football with my Dad come Sunday. I collected football cards and based my team preferences on a number of things.

1) When Mike buck graduated from Maine and went to the saints as their backup, I liked the saints if he got to play.

2) When I was a kid Joe Montana was awesome. So I liked whatever team he played for it happened to be the 49ers and it probably helped that they won some super bowls. When he went to Kansas City I followed him for a while, but lost interest.

3) Locality. Even though the Patriots were bad (Think Steve Grogan days) they were still good, and they were the closest team, and hence was certain to be aired on TV. So If you can see it, and everyone talks about it, you watch it.

At times it comes down to the bandwagon effect. If that&#039;s the majority of your exposure you are predetermined to like that team.

When I was a kid I liked a lot of teams, but now I&#039;m too busy and so I arbitrarily chose to watch the Pats. Again, the super bowls help, but Tom Bradey is a good player. I can respect him for some of his stances on things and he plays well.

It also comes down to accessibility, I&#039;m not as likely to hop on a plane and go out West to see a baseball game, but a drive down to Boston for a nice summer day at the ballpark, though expensive, is not out of order.
